Physician wellness coaching & consulting

You carry everyone. Who carries you?

Confidential coaching and consulting for physicians, APPs, and medical groups, led by Dr. Mohammadi. A practicing, dual board-certified physician who knows the schedule, the weight of every decision, and the toll.

Does this sound familiar?

For the clinician who wants both the career and the life

Charting follows you home more nights than it should.
You want to be as present at the dinner table as you are in the exam room.
The gym, the trip, the date night keep getting promised to after this next stretch, and the stretch never ends.
Saying no still feels harder than working the extra shift.
Weekends feel like recovery, not living.
You love medicine, and you want to still love it ten years from now.
You are asking what the next decade of your career should look like, and who you get to be outside of it.
You are successful on paper, and you want your life to feel the way it looks.

You do not need to be burned out to work with a coach. This is how clinicians build the version of the career that includes balance, presence, and joy.

Why a physician coach

A peer, not a framework borrowed from another profession

The strongest coaches in this field share one thing: they have carried the clinical load themselves. A general life or executive coach can be skilled and still be guessing at what a 24-hour call feels like, or what it costs to carry a bad outcome. Whether you are an MD, DO, PA, or NP, Dr. Mohammadi has lived the schedule, the responsibility, and the patient load you carry. That is the difference between advice and understanding.

This is also grounded in evidence, not wellness slogans. Coaching for physicians has moved from a nice extra to a measured intervention, with peer-reviewed research behind it. The figures below are drawn from recent national data and published trials, shared as context, not as a promise about your outcome.

4 in 10

physicians report at least one symptom of burnout in recent national data.

~22%

lower burnout after six coaching sessions over three months, in one peer-reviewed randomized trial of physicians.

Dr. Mohammadi, MD MPH ABOIM

A physician who still practices, so this comes from someone carrying the same load, not looking back on it. And this is not new territory for him. For seven years he helped lead this work inside one of Indiana's largest health systems.

  • Board member for physician wellness and leadership at Community Health Network from 2017 to 2024, and the well-being representative for his region. Physicians and APPs came to him with their concerns, and for guidance on practicing more efficiently while preventing burnout.
  • That work ran alongside the network's Center for Physician Well-Being and Professional Development, whose mission he helped carry: sustainable practice, real work-life integration, stronger clinical leadership, and restoring the joy of medicine. The network's well-being work has been honored by the American Medical Association.
  • He brought his integrative training into that work, helping colleagues build a balanced, whole-person approach to work and life, not just survive the schedule.
  • Trained in Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM), the structured peer-support model for carrying clinicians through the aftermath of critical events: the adverse outcome, the patient loss, the case that follows you home. He also knows when the right answer is clinical care rather than coaching, and says so.
  • Double board-certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine (ABOIM). Fellowship-trained through IFM and AIHM. Castle Connolly Top Doctor, 2025 and 2026.
  • A peer who understands the weight of the work, because he carries it every week.

Coaching, not medical care

This is a coaching and consulting service. It is not medical care, therapy, or psychiatric treatment, and it does not create a doctor-patient relationship with Dr. Mohammadi. It is entirely separate from the clinical practice at Thrive Wellness MD. Nothing here involves diagnosis, treatment, or prescribing.

Coaching is confidential under a coaching agreement. Because it is not medical care, it is not a medical record and is not covered by HIPAA. Coaching is also not a substitute for mental health treatment. If clinical care is what you need, we will help you get connected to the right licensed professional, alongside or instead of coaching.

If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, this service is not equipped for emergencies. Call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, now, or go to the nearest emergency room.
Common questions

What physicians ask first

Is this therapy or counseling?

No. Coaching is forward-looking and action-oriented, built around goals, accountability, and skills, not diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition. If you are dealing with depression, anxiety, or a crisis, we will help you get connected to the right licensed care instead of, or alongside, coaching.

Does this create a doctor-patient relationship with Dr. Mohammadi?

No. This is a coaching and consulting relationship, entirely separate from medical care. Nothing in a coaching engagement involves diagnosis, treatment, or prescribing.

Is what I share confidential?

Yes, held to strict professional confidentiality under the coaching agreement. One important distinction: this is not a medical record and is not protected under HIPAA, because it is not medical care. It is a private professional coaching relationship with its own confidentiality terms.

Can my employer or hospital pay for this?

Often, yes. Many physicians use CME funds or a department wellness stipend, especially for group or organizational engagements. Ask your CME office. An invoice and program description can be provided to support the request.

Do I have to already be burned out to start?

No. Many physicians start before things get bad, for a career-crossroads decision, to build boundaries, or to grow as a leader. Prevention costs less than recovery, in time and money both.

What if I am in crisis right now?

This service is not equipped for emergencies. If you are in crisis or having thoughts of self-harm, call or text 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, now, or go to the nearest emergency room. Coaching can resume once you are safely connected to the right care.

How is this different from a general life or business coach?

Dr. Mohammadi has personally carried a physician's schedule, responsibility, and patient load, and has direct experience inside a health system's physician well-being program. This is peer coaching, not a framework translated from another profession.

Do you work with physicians outside Arizona and Indiana?

Coaching is delivered by secure video, so it can reach physicians beyond Arizona and Indiana. Because Dr. Mohammadi is an actively licensed physician, the scope of any engagement is confirmed on the discovery call so it stays clearly on the coaching side of the line.

The first step

Book your discovery call

A short, confidential conversation to see if this is a fit. Pick a time below and it goes straight on Dr. Mohammadi's calendar, no email back and forth. A brief intake at booking helps him prepare, so the call starts at the real conversation. This scheduler is separate from patient booking, kept apart from the clinical practice on purpose.
